MERRY CHRISTMAS !

TAGS I MADE
TAGS FOR ESTY WEATHER IN FLORIDA TODAY: Some what cool with rain. I guess most everyone is going to have a white Christmas, that would be the only time I miss the snow!
Merry Christmas everyone!
Not much going on here, today. I thought about going to the beach for the sunrise but not a good weather day for that. I did get up and take a look at the eclipse the other nite. The pic's I post today are some tags I made for esty, speaking of I did get registered and started my store, they are made with my new tag punch that I got on sale at Michael's last week. Forty % off plus another 15% with coupon from paper. They were made out of an old world atlas, really old, an old sheet music, and old book. I will post a link for my esty store as soon as it is up and going.
All for now thanks for taking a look and come back soon.
Blessings to all

MY JUNK JOURNAL & SOME LOOT

LOOT I GOT AT YARD SALE: This was a great find of, old Christmas books, early 1950's very cool. Then I found some old doily's round ones, and a few in the shape of hart, diamond, spade, really nice fun ephemera. And a couple old books to alter. I loved the old library pocket! These will all be fun working in my altered art projects. MY JUNK JOURNAL

THE BACK
This is my first attempt at making and altered art journal. So I decided to call it my junk journal, and fill it with things that I have and like that are lying around with out a home. Just being moved from place to place. First of all I altered the pages in side making them ready for the new occupants. I used some of the techniques I have learned on the Internet and used in the journals in the last post. One of the techniques was to wrinkle up a page then smooth it out and lightly rub a ink stamp pad over it. In the next to the last page on the left side, I tore up paper and glued it on the page, in one part I tore some tissue paper up and glued it on, it has the gold stars on it. Each page then is distressed with an ink pad. I will show you before and after pic's of some pages as I add to them. This book was a composition book, that I got at the dollar store. The front has a couple pieces of paper added to it, but had some decoration all ready on it. I will be adding more to this front as time goes on and I see something I like. The same with the back it was all red and I put the heart paper on. The ribbon serves a purpose besides being decorative, they help hold the book together as it gets heavier when you add to it. I am having fun working with this book. I have a few things here with me to put in it, as I still have a lot of stuff in PA. I have a few things the G-kids made for me when they were little, and a few cards the kids send me on BD's and Mothers Day.
I would love to join in a few swaps, if anyone reading this knows of any swaps that I could join in please leave a comment! I know its close to Christmas, so not much going on right now with this type of thing, but I would love to join a Valentine swap.
Thanks for looking and come back soon

JUNK JOURNAL

JUNK JOURNAL'S
INSIDE PAGES OF SMALL JOURNAL

CLOSE UP OF PAGE

MORE

AND MORE

In the first pic is both the journals that I have been working on. The big one was made from a note book that I got at the dollar store. I am making this one for me. Since I really didn't know what I was doing, did not want to put it for sale. A junk journal is, from what I can figure out, is a journal that you make to put things in that you want to keep and don't have anywhere to put it. like maybe things collected on a vacation, a day trip to the movies, any kind of outing that you have picked up some unique things and ideas. It can have things you have seen in magazines, books or photos and want to keep them. Things that make you smile, pleasing for you to look at, keepsakes, and a multitude of other things that I cant think of right now. I guess that it can be made from junk, such as cereal boxes old used books, magazines, the small journal in the pic is a kids chunky book, you know the ones that are made with the thick card board. I forgot to take a before pic, but I got a couple mine chunky books that I will do before pic so you get the idea.
You can cover your pages or any collage projects with old paper of any kind, flash cards, scrap booking paper (this is what I used for these) calenders, text from books, sheet music, junk mail, etc etc you get the idea. Once you start this you will come up with all kinds of ideas and will be hoarding every piece of paper that comes your way.
I covered each page and the front and back with paper. I have some designer clips and paper clips that I picked up at WM on sale. They are to hold things in your book until you get around to pasting and gluing them in, or just to old something that you don't want to glue down.
I did not call this a Junk Journal because I want to put it up for sale and you could very well use this as photo album as well. So I did not put anything on the front, like I did the larger one.
I had so much fun doing these, I got two more chunky books, and a note book to make more. I will be looking at yard sale for more chunky's. I will post on the bigger journal next time and tell you about some of the techniques I have learned and used in it.
At a yard sale this weekend I got 8 stamps for $ 1 each, the total retail for these like new stamps, was over $90 some of the prices were still on them and I know about how much they cost because I have been pricing them at Micheal's. I was doing the happy dance the whole way down the street!! I love yard sales!! I'm a "yard sale gal" !!
I will take some pic's of the paper clips and li'l plastic clips for next time.
Well thats it for now thanks for stopping by, and be sure to stop again

OLD CABINET CARDS MY VTT & ALTERED LUNCH BOX MINI

"OLD PAPER" EPHEMERA
LI'L LUNCH BOX ALTERED

A BUNCH OF LI'L BOXES

TAGS INSIDE LI'L BOX
WEATHER IN FLORIDA: Temp low 32 with high of 60 sunny and some what cool. Nice.
Today my VTT is some old cabinet cards and photo's I picked up at a yard sale. I could not believe my luck....there were about 14 of them and only 50 cents ea. That was a great deal! They usually go high and they are in great demand in the craft/art world. I have already taken them to staples and copied them on to card stock to use in my altered art projects. Also in the pic are some vintage S&P shakers, that I am going to use to put my glitter and German glass glitter in. Much better than plastic tubes that it comes in. And also a box of card with butterfly's, and again for altered art.
I noticed going to yard sales here in Florida , there is not much in the way of old or vintage things.
Not like it is up north. Might be hard for me to get things to post here. Might have to go to antique stores and take pic's to share. Would that be cheating???
Now for what I have been working on. I got the little mini lunch boxes at WM last year after Christmas sale. They and candy in them. Collaged the out sides, and made tags for the inside. The tag was made to hold a small pic and an area on the back for journaling. I have done them with a theme, the one on the right of pic 2 is Easter theme titled "EGG HUNT" spelled out with little beads on the front with a pic of a puppy with bunny ears on! Too cute. I have a couple Christmas ones, one for babies, and a sort of generic one. I did not embellish the others that I have done, could not make up my mind if people wanted them embellished or would they want to do it.
And don't forget to visit our host http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/ she has a great blog!
Please comment on that if you would.
All for this post thanks for stopping.

COLLAGE PACKET TAGS CRAFT ROOM

PACKET FOR ESTY
TAG I MADE

NEW CRAFT ROOM

MORE CRAFT ROOM WEATHER IN FL: Temp 55 this am - 60 afternoon, with clouds and some rain.
Today's post is about my new found paper crafting. The first pic is a packet I put together for my soon to be esty store. It is an ephemera of old game parts. Very cool in collage work. Its nice to have a bunch of a few different things, that way you don't have to buy a whole game to get one thing. That is if you can even get the older ones, they are not always available. I am going to sell these packets and other crafted things by me and vintage findings. The store should be open by Jan. 1. If you see anything on the blog you might want to buy just contact me. I hope to have a new computer by then, that is what is holding me up, as I don't want to list then not be able to take care of the site, because of computer problems.
The second pic is of a Christmas tag I made this weekend. In the pic I put some of the things I used to make it. The tag itself is one I got in a bag of 10 at the after Christmas sale at WM last year. I knew they would be great to use in altered art. The other thing in the pic is a vintage Christmas card. I used parts of it. Old sheet music, vintage buttons, tea dyed old lace, some stamping etc, and my tag is done. I did add one more thing and that was a vintage hair pin to use to hold a pic if you want to add to the tag. I have fun making these tags! Oh, also on the back I did some stamping and added a small piece of vintage school tablet paper. Remember those old tablets?
And last is the "craft room" a small area in the Florida room. I am not sure how this is going to work out. There is no AC out there, only a fan to keep the air moving, don't know if I can work there in the summer or not. Some times now it's a problem. With the heat and all. Anyone else out there living in Florida, give me any hinds on how to do a craft area? Will things get mill dew in the summer ?
Today at 4 pm I am going to Micheal's, with their 40% of coupon and other specials I am gathering up things needed for collage, and paper crafts. Today they have punches for 40% off and another 15% off from 4to 9 pm. This is the only way to get this stuff when its on sale!! I was there Sat after black Friday and got some great deals at 50 % off plus 20% more of from 12 t0 5 pm. I will show you my loot on next post.
Well as I am sitting here blogging, the sun has come back out. That is one thing great about FL when it rains or storms, as soon as its over the sun is out. Not like good old PA where it stays cloudy and dreary for days and days.
I am making an "Art Learning Journal" I will show you and tell you about it soon. It is fun thing to do, I am making pages on all the things I am learning about collage and paper techniques. I ran across a Utube video on how one women does it and I sure learned alot, cant wait to try all the things she showed. I really want to do some swaps and trades, hope to get into that soon. Not sure how to go about it.
Well that's all for now thanks for stopping by and come again

VINTAGE WRAPPING PAPER FOR VTT

VINTAGE PAPER
VINTAGE PAPER

MORE VINTAGE PAPER

PAPER DOLL VINTAGE PAPER Hi all, I am still working on my craft - art studio. It is coming along very slow! I will post some pic's at some point but it will still not look done. I am still working on the ceiling, working over my head is slow going. And I still need storage thingy's. Found a wrought iron mag rack at a yard sale this weekend and put it to work already. I needed more table space so I got two of my 6ft.
1x12 boards out of my truck and my metal pipe saw horses and made a table out of those. Worked out pretty good. I use these boards when I take items to flea markets. I will not need them till summer. I still have several totes sitting around about 1/2 empty.
This week for TTT I want to show you some vintage wrapping paper that I unpacked this week.
I don't remember where I got it, I have had it so long. It was like Christmas when I looked at it all! There must be at least 75 different kinds of paper. All very beautiful, and in great shape for its age. I can't wait to start making things using these. You can click on the pic making it larger and get a great look at the detail. In the last pic, the paper is paper doll's how cool is that!
I did get some time to start working on a few things. I will post pic's soon.
Well that's it for now...thanks for checking out my blog and come back soon

ADDING NEW TO BLOG : ALTERED ART& VTT

INSPIRATION BOARD TOP HALF
INSPIRATION BOARD BOTTOM HALF

ALTERED DOOR HEADER Well , I was trying to decide what way I wanted this blog to go, keep it vintage or art/craft blog.
Finally figured out that it could be both because with with the altered art , I use a lot of vintage and antique things doing this type of art. I think some of the things I did in the past were altered art, such as the rehab furniture, and the decorative painting on the "junktique" Check the archives to see these things. Now I will be doing alot with other old and vintage things, ephemera, (old paper) collage, embellishing, stamping , sewing, journaling or doing anything else to a book or other items to reflect a creative idea, theme or narrative. This form of art encompass soooo much, that's what I like about it you can go to so many places with it, unlimited fun!
In future post I will share with you the techniques I learn and all the mistakes I make along the way, but the way I look at it, nothing is a mistake in this form of art. lol
The first thing that I have been working on is an inspiration board. Not sure if that is what it is turning out to be. It is an old cork bulletin board, I painted it pink, cause that is what I had handy, then I started picking out some things to decoupage on it. I had a lot of my stuff packed up so I used what was still lying around, just so I could get started. First added a piece of vintage dress pattern, then some old sheet music, scrabble tile my DlR , vintage wall paper a couple faces of women I drew in pencil, a tag in the upper right corner that I made a couple yrs ago, just fooling around trying something new, the gold circle on the tag is an old earring that you can cut a pic out and put in place of the vintage girl, and you can journal on the back, the flowers in the middle right are first time trying the box tape method of transferring images. Kinda cool. Maybe I will fill it up with different techniques I learn. Anyway that's what I have done so far.
The other pic is of an old woodwork door header that I took out of a 100 yr old house that they were demolishing . I gave two of them to my dd and she made a sort of head board for her guest room. The theme in the room is beachy/ocean , really turned out nice. She glued on sea shells, put on that fish net and a few other beach findings and hung them above the twin beds in the room. So see you can use anything for altered art!
You can click on the pic to make them larger, now I am off to do more cleaning and packing up.
Don' for get to visit host for VTT http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
Thanks for looking come back soon
Blessings to all

VTT, VINTAGE HALLOWEEN, FALL ,& BIG PUMPKINS !

FALL DECORATING EXTREME !
VINTAGE PUMPKIN PKG

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN

VINTAGE HALLOWEEN PKG

VINTAGE BLACK CAT

VTT
Today's VTT is some vintage ephemera that I plan selling on Esty. Store not open yet hope to get it going as soon as I get to FL this winter. Leaving on Nov. 1 these are some packets I made up to use for altered art, scrap booking, and any other project that need some embellishment.
The first one is a vintage pumpkin packet, the pumpkin is one I have had since my kids were little, 1960's would be the time frame. The plastic cake picks are from the same time frame and the paper photo frame is a little older from the early 1900's found it in the attic with some family photos that I have no Idea who they are. I mean really old ! The ribbon and ric rac has been around awhile also. The rest of the pic's are some I printed of the internet.
The black cat in the second packet is the same time frame. I had when kids were little. I use to hang these things in the windows. Same ric rac as other packet, a witch cake pick, some old playing cards, I was thrilled when I found the round deck of cards! Did not know what I was going to do with them but for a 50 cents could not pass them up. I love making up these packets and I hope they sell on Esty. I will be selling other things also. I have 10 totes full of this kind of stuff to make up and sell this winter. I hope to find some place in FL to sell also. Like a craft mall.
The pic of the giant pumpkins is something I saw last week while out geocaching. I sure would hate having to dispose of them later!! But fun to look at.
I want to thank all who come and check out my blog each day and leave comments it means alot to me!
Also I was shocked to learn of the passing of one our VTT blogger last week, CC left nice comments, and had a neat blog. I'm sure she will be missed.
You can click on pic to make it larger and see all the little things that are in the packet. And see how much the pumpkings weigh, they have a sign with wt in front of each pumpkin.
Don't forget to check out our host's great blog! http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/
Blessings to all.

VINTAGE GREEN & PINK

GREEN STUFF
DOILY & COOKIE CUTTERS

VINTAGE BOTTLE & PAIRS HANKY

PINK BRIDE BOOK

CUTE INSIDE BOOK

VINTAGE 1940's BRIDE
I know its been quite awhile since i have posted, but it has been a busy summer getting stuff purged from the house and working on fixing up things around here. But it is now winding down for this year. If you want to keep up with all that it is posted on my other blog. Check it out anyway and see what else we have been doing. LINK to blog : http://grammyandthepapillonprinces.blogspot.com/
The first 3 pic's are of some vintage green I found while packing up and purging out! An old green step stool, a vintage White House Vinegar , really pretty, vintage hand crochet doily, vintage hanky from Pairs, vintage green wood handle cookie cutters, and vintage Boonton bowl, (Melamie). Fun things. I think I will keep them for awhile. I want to open an Esty store maybe I can sell them there. I will post a link when I get it open, wont be till winter when I get to FL.
The little pink bride book I found last week at a yard sale, I really don't buy much anymore but this was to sweet to pass up for $1.00! Back in the day like when I was first married, there was something in most towns called "The Welcome Wagon" .When someone moved to town, got married, had a baby etc etc, The Welcome Wagon lady would stop and pay a visit, and bring you all kinds of goodies from local businesses, and such. Some things would be gifts and some coupons. This little book I found out after getting it home and taking a look was one of those items. I think. It was to aid you in your wedding needs with what they called their Bridal Secretary and her services. Its full of all things bride and wedding. Like a wedding planer of today I guess. It is sooooo cool, I am not sure what I am going to do with it. Maybe an Esty thing.
The book is from Livingston's in Youngstown OH. Not sure if they are still in business or not. Don't think they are. This issue was dated 1949 and was the 3rd printing.
Blessings to all
That's all for now thanks for the visit

VINTAGE RED & WHITE STUFF

VINTAGE STUFF
VINTAGE ENAMEL

HAND PAINTED RED

VINTAGE CC'S

For my VTT today I have some more of my stuff. I am packing up and ran across some more so thought I might as well be for VTT.
To start with is a couple of pieces of white enamel with red trim. I seems like the red trim enamel is the most sought after. I use to have a lot of this and sold a lot too. I have only a few pieces left for my self.
Next is a couple of vintage coffee pots that I painted white then added my sweet red cherries. This is more of what I use to sell on ebay. These two items are for sale if you are interested please contact me.
Last is some vintage cookie cutters. We use to paint them also as you can see the metal ones with the cherries on them. The others are red plastic HRM cookie cutters, that most often brought in big $$ also. I don't know why but the collectors wanted the HRM cutters.
I am still busy gettting ready to sell the house, and move to FL. You can check on that and more about me and Maggie on my other blog. http://grammyandthepapillonprinces.blogspot.com/
Check it out.
And don't forget to visit the host of VTT she has a great blog!
Thats all for now

FROM THE PAST, AMERICANA

1950 DOLL HOUSE

It is just like one that I use to have and I loved it! This one is in excellent condition. If any one wants to buy it email me and let me know. I am still working on getting rid of everything, thru on line sales, flea market, and yard sales.
The other pic is of Americana stuff I painted since I got home in April. It is all stuff I had around planning on painting it some day, well that day has come. I took the whole load to Volant and sold it wholesale to a business there.
Well that's all for now, don't for get to check out VTT host http://coloradolady.blogspot.com/

V.T.T. VINTAGE CANISTERS AND WILENDUR

VINTAGE CANISTER SET
WILENDUR ROSE TEA TOWELS

WILENDUR TEA TOWEL
This is going to be my VTT for this week, I will go and post it the. This is a beautiful vintage canister set with the match holder all in red flower pattern. The set is my DD's and in great shape. I use to sell the vintage canister sets in my store, the apple were the one.s that brought the most money. All the vintage tin is still in demand but you don't get the money that we use to.
Even the newer advertising tins like the Ritz , and Nabisco Premium cracker tins are in demand.
The other thing that was in high demand and got good money was vintage Wilendur linens. Especially the cherry and rose pattens. I love old linen, especially the hand embroider stuff. I learned how to embroider when I was 12 years old, so I guess that anything I did then would be considered vintage lol. I have nothing that I ever embroidered but have one thing of my mothers. Stupid of me to get rid of it when I was younger and didn't like "old stuff"
I am finishing up the trim painting in the bath room today, doing the vanity and that will be all in the bathroom. I will be starting the woodwork trim in the bedrooms next.
Son is working hard on the garage between rain days. It turned out to be a bigger job than we thought, don't they all!
I have no idea how much we will get done on the house this summer, but I am hoping a lot, so I can rent it out before I leave for Florida. I don't think I will be selling it at this time so rent is something to try for now.
Since I wont be selling right away, no RV for awhile so, I think I would like to get a van. I will be hauling stuff to FL and need one and Maggie and I can also go camping in it.
We have been doing some Geo-caching and having a good time. It would be more fun if I had a caching partner. If you want to check out our caching adventures check my other site
I will try and keep up this site in a timely manner in the future. Thanks for stopping by.
Blessings to all
Donna
