VTT CHERRIES

CHERRY LUNCH BUCKET
CHERRY CAKE SAVER Hi all this week for VTT I am showing you some of the "rehab" work that I do. A few years ago
I use to sell a lot on ebay....I would take old vintage items and give them a new life. Here are a couple things I would paint.....vintage lunch bucket and vintage cake saver....I would try and get some that were in pretty good shape and the prime, base , and paint my sweet cherries on them.
Cherries were a hot deocrating item at the time and I sold hundreds of items .....but alas all good things come to an end and so did ebay. I don't waste my time trying to sell , I was going to try again but after watching it for a week or so .....changed my mind. I still might try an esty store at some point.
Also I started another blog to post about geocaching and my traveling tales when we start south in Jan. so be sure to check it out...
and dont for get to check out our host blog
blessings to all

  1. Donna you do beautiful work! I love the cherries (and so will a couple other bloggers who pop by). I think Etsy would be perfect for you. You can list some things for all the world to see at a low listing fee.

Tastes do change. I had a space in a shop a couple of years ago and any furniture that was painted black would sell. I'm just getting back into that same shop and asked the owner about the hot color. She said that the colors of the day are aqua, teal and mustard (a golden prim yellow).

Ebay has slowed somewhat although I have never sold handcrafted so I can't say about that. I do know that from time to time when a find a true collectible or something vintage or antique and unusual I put it on ebay. Collectors seem not to be deterred by the economy. I just put a Super Spirograph from the 60's and in only a few hours it had 5 watchers. No bids yet but... Go figure.

Excuse my droning on - I'll stop now. Happy Holidays & Bon Voyage!

  3. Donna, you're so incredibly talented! You really should paint full time and try to sell these things, but I know how hard it is to sell handmade items. You put so much time into painting it, that you have to charge more, and people usually won't pay that much. It's a shame, because you can't beat handpainted things. So much better than Made In China!
    Happy VTT and Merry Christmas!

  4. You did a nice job on decorating those things. Etsy is probably better for things like that. On eBay I always look for something specific, but I am more likely to browse on Etsy.
