BL0B ART….

One day I was….

I was messing around with alcohol inks …using Tim Holtz inks and that ink pad thinging he has..didn’t work for me…and that led to  what I call blob art…I was trying to make some flowers that I seen on a site somewhere…it was not looking good for any flowers…so I set it aside for quite a while…then one day picked it up and started to doodle…

and I saw what I thought was some cute little girls…so here is what showed up when it was all said and done…or should I say when it was all doodled and done…

I am not sure what these little sweeties will turn out to be…but I am sure they will be seen again in my art/craft work…

some of them just looked like they were up to their eyes in bubbles…lol

Any way I had a fun time doodling these sweeties…I think you can come up with the best art work when nothing is planned and you just do it…don’t over think it…I am making up a few b lo g  post ahead so that I  will have some ready when I have internet service.. having problems with my Verizon…so I try to come up with some free WiFi to make post and up load pix…10-4-2014…I am on my way back to Florida and have some free WiFi so going to post this…got my house done and listed to be sold..hope to get more crafting done soon,..thanks for looking and come back soon…blessings to all donna

PLAYING WITH LEMONS…

When we first…

got back to PA …I was playing around with some sewing projects…wanting something different than the quilt blocks…so I made me a bag holder you know the ones that hold WM plastic shopping bags..I needed one for here…I made up my own pattern..made it with the sunflowers on it…I was telling my daughter about it and she said she would like one…so I looked in my material stash and could not find anything that would go with her kitchen..a few years ago she she had went lemon yellow and lime green in her kitchen…it is beautiful… I made a post with pics on this b l o g  if  want to check the archives…you  can check it out…so one day while looking around in Jo-Anne’s I saw this cool material with lemons on it…

So I got a couple yards…it was even on sale…and stared sewing it up…

I loved it so much I got carried away and made a couple pot holders and a pad to drain the dishes on….my camera is the pits ..but the color in the pic below is the closest to the ture color of the material…

The pot holders were fun to make…I made them using the string quilt block pattern…I am making a string block quilt…I will post about that soon…anyway that is what I used on the pot holders…got some of that special padding for the heat …I stitched in the ditch along each strip…to hold it all together…I think this set would make great Christmas gifts…I was thinking about making a few sets for the church bazar when I get back to Florida…

And here is a Maggie girl pic…she is looking up at me waiting for her treat…a couple years ago when she was sick with those hot spots…she didn’t want to eat much…to bribe her into eating I would give her one when she would eat…well she got better and eating normal …but the treats she did not let go of…lol…she now has to have them…

And the rest of the story….

This sewing is what I have been doing for fun …with my sister …also we have been going to yard sales…mostly for fun the only thing I buy is material or sewing related things…this year was the last big push to get the house done and on the market…I did most of it this year by myself…son was very busy to be able to help me…let me tell you this was a huge job..sometimes I didn’t think I would make it…but now down to the last of it …can hardly believe it…after 6 years of down sizing and and purging…I have been posting about it on my other b lo g …the link is on the side bar …just click on it and check it out…when I get back to Florida this winter I will be making more post on here…I seem to have got my muse back for art and crafting….so anyway all for now thanks for looking and come back soon …blessings to all …donna

A FEW THINGS IMADE….

Just before….

I left for PA I finished up these snow men Christmas ornaments for the church bazar…This bunch was made with the old vintage measuring spoons…I take them apart and spray paint them white…then decorated them up…I used to sell them at craft shows..they are fun to make…

and this is the quilt a made for my new GGD..my first Great Grand Child!!! Her mommy and daddy like and have a couple kitties …so I embroidered

And a Maggie pic of the day…when I lost my other computer…I lost all my pix …so had to take another of Maggie girl getting a bath…sad sack face…lol…

Not much of a post today…have not been doing that much crafting…but have been doing some sewing and quilt making with my sister…when I leave to go south I will miss the time with my sister…we had a pretty good summer…the house is almost done…who knows when I will get this posted…it might be done and on the market by then…

SEWING & QUOLTING….

Quilting and sewing…

with my sister on and off…I set up two sewing stations in my empty dinning room..this one below is my stations…it looks messy and it is because I am sew  on and off…I work awhile then take a break and sew and elevate my legs…so that is why working on house is going a little slow…but it is moving along…

And this is my sisters sewing station…with the ironing station in the back ground….she is working on a quilt for her youngest daughter…a crazy quilt that our grandmother made it was mostly in tatters but her daughter really loves it and ask if it could be repaired…we are taking all the good parts and adding new material to those then will piece it all back together …

Also last week I made these burp pad for my new GGD’s mom to use while burping her…I made 6 of them out of soft flannel…

After I got them made I looked at the shape and they reminded me of a dog bone…so I made a couple extra for my Maggie’s food and water bowls…and they are reversible ! Cute little owls…

Here is the one I made for the rig…cute little paw prints…sweet…

This is about it for now…I have been having a problem of to much data usage to fast ..on my Verizon Jet Pack…I post about it on my other blog so go take a look…maybe someone out there has an answer for me..thanks for looking and come back soon blessings to all donna

STASH AND A CRAZY QUILT….

In between….

all the work I have been doing on the house..I have been playing with material…this is my stash I organized it according to color…after I ironed it all…these are larger pieces..some have up to 3 yards….

and below are the crazy quilt blocks I have been working on for the last couple months…I have been using a bunch of small scraps I have collected thru out the years…in this pic I have them lined up on the bed..close together…

then I laid them out with space between them to see how they would look with strips between them…I think I like them like this…I have about 22 of them made….I need more….should I make  some scraps from my stash or hunt the yard sales and flea markets for some…hum what to do…

More stash…this is all holiday stash…in tote getting it ready to take with me….Thinking I would like to take some quilting classes..wish I could find some around here…

Well since I made this post…my GGD was born on 7-11-2014 wt. 7lbs 11 oz.…20 3/4 in long…here is a pic..

YUMMY QUILT EYE CANDY…

Just before I left…

I found this local quilt shop about 5 miles from dads…oh my what goodies they have here..this was just one wall of material…

Below I took the pic just in side the front door..it was hard to get pix because they were busy that day….

And some finished items are hanging all over the store…I bet during the holidays this is a wonder land of goodness..

And a couple of finished quilts ..hanging around just two of many….

And the rest of the story…

When I get back I plan on taking a few classes that they offer at this store…later I will tell you the name I cant remember right now…in Aug. they are going to be involved in a shop hop…about a doz quilt shops from Tampa to Ocala will be on the tour…it is a two day event…I really wanted to go but I will not be in Florida at that time and…then I thought what would I do with my Maggie girl….on my down time from working on the house I want to be doing quilt stuff…but I am afraid to start something cause I don’t know what I am doing…even working on the crazy quilt blocks I found out I was doing some things wrong..most of what I am learning is from watching  Youtube..I can only watch on my phone and it is old slow and cranky…anyone out there know how I can get a new phone not pay full price and keep my Verizon unlimited data…??? Please let me know..well better get busy…thanks for looking and come back soon

QUICK POST

I have some free wifi….so thought I needed to at least use it some how …but short on time so it will be short…below is some of the scraps I have been ironing for sewing some crazy quilts….I forgot that I have brought these with me…found them while packing up the art/craft room…

HI..

Well I know that I have been missing for a long time…but you know how sometimes life gets in the way and some things have to be put aside…but maybe I will be back on track..below is a pic of something that I have been working on…embroidery …a cute little kitty quilt block…because…I am going to be a Great Grandma in July !!!!! That in its self is enough to put some spark under you….

I made 4 of these blocks put them on a pink back ground and then on the quilt/blanket all soft flannel…the chevron pattern is what the mama of new baby picked…made some yoyo’

In this pic …I have every thing lying on the bed while working on it ….

And also putting together a couple bibs made with pink wash clothes…

I have really gotten into this sewing thing….especially quilting… what got me into this …I took a quilt block class at Jo-Ann’s last month that got me hyped up…I will save that for the next post along with the finished quilt/blanket…that will make me get back to this blog..……so thanks for looking and come back soon..

A FEW ALTERED TAGS…

I worked on a few….

tags this last week..finished them up on Sun…

The tag on the left is some poppies that I drew one day just sitting around…then colored them with pencils…stamped with a friendship stamp…the one on the right is a fancy cut flower and humming bird…used some burlap …burlap is a hot item these days…

These next two… one on the right fancy cut yellow rose …the vintage girls are rub on’s..

Burlap and Butterflies…speaks for its self…was showing my sister (she was visiting for a few weeks) how to use the alcohol inks for back grounds…so had to do something with the tag…

SOME INSPIRATION…..

Here is the sketching I was working on that got me back in the mood for some crafting…that and looking at a couple of books I had started….this was one of the pages in the book My Learning Journal …a junk journal…

 

It stared out with some spry painting some pages in the journal …then the other day I started sketching a sun face on it….

More inspiration I like magazines…but now I have no room to store them…I think in my down sizing I have gotten rid of at least a 1/2 ton of them….so when I was doing this…I looked thru a few  of them and cute out what I liked and put them in a folder…so got that out and was looking thru in and got the idea of putting some under the glass on my work desk…this can be changed at will…when I get tired of looking at one thing….can change it….

I have done much crafting this week…right now I am sitting at Wickham CG for an over night stay to empty my tanks.. they have free wifi and I have been looking at crafty YouTube videos…more inspiration….That’s it for now thanks for looking and come back soon… blessings to all …donna

GETTING IN THE MOOD….

Well I know it has been a long time…but what can I say…( I wasn’t in the mood)?…any way the other day I got busy and started cleaning out my art/craft room…making it more (in the mood making)….below is the corner that is my main working area…I have my desk top covered in glass…the piece on the right is a table top I found at a yard sale for $1…( you know me queen of the buck)….then last winter I found another piece someone set out for the trash man…it is about 5 ft. and covers the whole area on the left…working on glass is great…it cleans up supper and you can cut on it…These both are nice thick pieces that one would use on table tops…

Below in pix….is a close up of work space…the altered cigar box on the right I started working on it last spring…got it out and did a little more the other day ….that and doing some sketching got me started….the cigar box is a sewing room for a friend or for yourself…my plan was and still is to sell these at craft shows and make up some kits that you can make your self and sell on etsy…I am also working on a fairy box.

Fixed up part of my working space with some things I like to look at and might just give me some inspiration…

I also got busy and started to put out some of my “finding things” to use in altered art …I have a ton of this stuff and have to pack it away each year when I go to PA….so the mold and mildew don’t get to  it  during  summer…

I am sitting over at a Publix parking lot doing this post so I can use their Wi-Fi….I ran out of my Verizon so had to look for some free ….You can read my other blog and see what happened to my puter and why I ran out….Any way this is a start …getting back into the swing of things…watching YouTube videos makes me want to start swapping again…So this is it for now thanks for looking and come back soon…

MAKING SOME EARRINGS…

I did get busy and make a few…
Did work on a few earrings this past month…not really doing much art/crafting…getting ready to head north…in fact I am now in VA visiting with my DD and family…

These earrings are mostly made with glass beads and vintage jewelry pieces…

This is something I can haul around and do on the road in my rig…

I am all most in PA….have been traveling at a slow pace took me 6 days to get from central Florida to northern VA….staying here at my DD’s …been here a week and will leave on Mon. to finish my trip…take a look and see our travels on my other blog
