BIDDY PENNY FARTHING BALLOON 2 BIDDY PENNY FARTHING
The standing balloon lady belonged to my grandmother, I loved and admired it as a child and still love it today. It is a knock off , from the Royal Doulton lady. They are chalkware, but that in its self could be of some value. But they do have some chips in them, so there goes the value. Wouldn't sell my grandmothers anyway. The other one my DD got on ebay for me.
Here is a little history on Biddy Penny
Made by Royal Doulton. H.N. 1943. BIDDY PENNY FARTHING BALLOON FIGURE. Designed by L. Harradine. 9" in height. Various Vibrant colors of lady carrying a bunch of beautiful gayly colored balloons. She is wearing a shawl and a floral hat. She is also carrying a basket around her left arm filled with uninflated ballons in her left hand. Excellent Condition. No chips, cracks or restoration would sell around $350!
We are still liking Florida alot, esp. the sunshine. Don't forget to check out or fun time at my other blog.

I LOVE them, they look like they could be STRAIGHT out of a scene at the beginning of "My Fair Lady!"
ReplyDeleteNever seen those! Thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteBoy do these look familiar! My mother-in-law got these from her mother and I know exactly where they are sitting in her house now. How fun to see another pair. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of Mary Poppins. These are wonderful pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love the name of the balloon lady! She sounds like a proper English lady, doesn't she? And I love anything made out of chalkware too. She's a wonderful keepsake of your grandmother's!
